Conquering Childhood Fears

By Dion Daly

Fear can affect anyone irrespective of age, or how strong and tough a person is. Nevertheless, children are more disposed to develop fears because their extent of comprehension about the world, and things in general is quite limited. The same can also be said about their deduction ability in terms of recognizing what is rational or irrational. That is why childhood fears are frequently referred to as irrational fears because they are generally creations of the mind and not from an outside source.

What is important for you to understand is that developing fear is absolutely natural. Some fears can come about at a young age or later in life, but they are always caused by encounters or events in your life. These are what are described as rational fears. Like I said before, unlike rational fears, irrational fears are often known as childhood fears because they are mostly not caused by the material world and are frequently unreal.

Seeing that irrational fears are generally created by your mind, then conquering them could require more work. Some say irrational fear is an effect produced by the change in a child's emotional and mental activity, as well as contact with new people or new surroundings. Nevertheless, some say that childhood fears must be conquered as they can possibly be damaging and restrictive for the child.

How do you conquer fears? A lot of people who experience fear from childhood do not really learn to let go of the fear and as a consequence bring that fear with them to adulthood. This degree of fear is frequently considered as childhood trauma, and can be triggered by really alarming events in the person's childhood years.

If you are an adult who has not totally overpowered your' fears then it is not too late to search for ways to liberated yourself from these fears. One of the best ways to begin is to recognize the degree of your fear and work out ways in which you can alleviate the burden.

Here are two helpful ways to face and overcome childhood fears.

1. Recognizing your fear is your first step on the road to overcoming it. Unless you recognize the cause of your fear, you will never be able to find an answer or cure for it. Seeing as the majority of childhood fears are irrational, it is best to talk about your fear or fears as the case may be, with your family or friends. Talking allows you to let go of any emotional weight that you felt as you were experiencing these childhood fears. Although it looks fairly easy, talking about your childhood fears to other people is certainly not easy. The thing is, however, you must try to be open with this concept in order to release any tension.

2. If you don't like the thought of talking about your' fears with friends, or family then getting professional help is the best way towards conquering childhood fears. Psychological professionals are armed with the appropriate training and knowledge that can help people tormented by all kinds of fears. Good Luck!

Understanding Self-Help And Personal Development

By Brock Blohm

Understanding Personal Development
According to Wikipedia, "Personal development refers to activities that improve self-knowledge and identity, develop talents and potential, build human capital and employ-ability, enhance quality of life and contribute to the realization of dreams and aspirations."
If a person were to deliberately begin working on their own personal development, they would be focusing on many categories. Listed below are the majority:
  • improving self-awareness
  • improving self-knowledge
  • building or renewing identity
  • developing strengths or talents
  • improving wealth
  • spiritual development
  • identifying or improving potential
  • building employ-ability or human capital
  • enhancing lifestyle or the quality of life
  • improving health
  • fulfilling aspirations
  • initiating a life enterprise or personal autonomy
  • defining and executing personal development plans
  • improving social abilities
Understanding Self-help
Self-help is very similar to that of Personal Development. Self-help generally refers to learning and growing as an individual by reading and experimenting. Many concepts and lifestyles can be learned by oneself or through social groups and communication.
Self-help is extraordinarily important. It allows you to learn and grow as a human. It allows you to gain knowledge and wisdom that that you can apply to the work place, relationships, or anywhere you see necessary.

Life is a journey
We all have this one body and this one life - that is why it is important to enjoy it while we are here. Self-help can help you achieve a happier life. Learning how to become better at something is exciting, as we can apply that to our lives. Learning how to be a better colleague or better friend can not only benefit ourselves, but everyone else that surrounds us!
As we age, we realize more and more how precious life really is! We are here for only a fraction of time.
So what should we be doing while we are in fact here? The answer may vary from person to person - but I feel that we should focus on enjoying our lives!
To me, Life is a Journey - one that allows us to build friendships, and relationships. One that allows us to gain experience and knowledge to give ourselves a sense of 'being' while we are here. Life should be enjoyed - there's no question about it. Take a moment and ask yourself "What are my goals in life." Achieving those goals will make you happy. That is why your life should revolve around achieving your goals!

You Should Never Give up!
My life is dedicated to helping people understand this concept. Teaching others that you can in fact create your own future by teaching yourself anything! Self-help is the key to success! This is my recommendation:
  1. Determine something about yourself that needs improvement
  2. Research and learn how to improve on it
  3. Repeat step 1 & 2
